Canings for a good cause
As Abel of The Spanking Writers has already noted, my fantasy about a schoolgirl being caned in the morning was strangely similar to his own post that day. Coincidence, or is he secretly harbouring telepathic powers? (Now wouldn't that come in useful during a spanking.) Either way, he took my idea and ran with it - to the consternation of some of his readers, who were certain that such a punishment (12 strokes of the cane in the early morning, every day for a week) was implausibly severe.
Mr C. helpfully offered to enlighten the unbelievers with a demonstration, possibly even recorded on film - certainly with daily written accounts and daily photos of the results. I protested, and while we were talking about it he suggested that actually such a cane-a-thon would be a fantastic publicity event for the spanking community. 12 strokes every day for a week is one possibility. A 24-hour event would be another...
If we could persuade other bloggers to join in, we could perhaps get sponsors to raise money for charity - Backlash would seem the obvious choice. Perhaps we could sell any films produced to raise money for the same cause. Or perhaps we could just use it to raise awareness. The point is that if only one or two people were taking part, it wouldn't be much different from our normal lives as we blog about them. But if a number of people were doing it simultaneously, suddenly it would become a coordinated show of solidarity that could have real power behind it.
Taking a caning as a way of protesting against prejudice? People have been going on hunger strikes for years - suffering for a cause you believe in is hardly a new method. And if we're campaigning for the right to a lifestyle in which we consent to suffering, it becomes all the more appropriate.
If you think you'd like to take part, or you have any suggestions for improving the idea, leave a comment. And even if you aren't able to participate yourself, pass the idea on - the more people we can get interested in it, the louder a statement we'll be able to make.

I think it would be a great idea, and would definitely buy the video of the event to support the cause.
